FYI, if anyone who doesn't mind American English, the online FREE dictionary by Merriam Webster http://www.merriam-webster.com/ is an excellent reference. It has meanings, synonyms, antonyms, examples sentences(!!), rhyming words (for poets), pronunciations in symbols and, most importantly, in sound files(!!). You can listen to the pronunciation. ABCDE.... and much, much more. There are also word quizzes, popular words, videos etc. Highly recommended. The best free online English dictionary I know. --zpdrmn :j.
Sometimes you just can't speak properly to another local Chinese, when you spell a word, say including letters L or R, if you don't say 'el-lo', 'r-lo' then they would never understand, sigh!
I remember one of my Phonetics professor (British) told us that not all native speakers can pronounce these 26 letters correctly. Some of the native speakers like to pronounce "V" as 'fi'.
teaching english again, man!
回覆刪除再說聲多謝!
回覆刪除在下讀書時期(廿多年前)一直讀錯e字, 因為小學老師教錯, 而中學老師普遍讀錯. 今天, 中小學的英文老師普遍不會教錯讀錯, 中小學及大學學生若然讀錯, 錯在他們, 不在老師了.
回覆刪除現在香港把 e 讀成「衣」的人還是多數呢。
刪除很有啟導意,希望不介意提供一本英文發音字典:
回覆刪除English Pronouncing Dictionary by Daniel Jones
