An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen. 有一對老人夫婦，到另一對夫婦的家吃飯。飯後，兩個女人離桌，進廚房去了。
The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, "Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great. I would recommend it very highly." 男人閒聊，有人說：「昨天晚上我們上一家新開的館子，真不錯哩，我可以向您鄭重推薦。」
The other man said, "What is the name of the restaurant?" 另一人就問：「那餐館甚麼名字？」
The first man thought and thought and finally said, "What is the name of that flower you give to someone you love? You know... The one that's red and has thorns." 老人想了又想，最後說：「那種甚麼紅花，人們用來送給情人的.....就是嘛，枝上有刺那一種，叫甚麼名字？」
"Do you mean a rose?" 「您是說 " rose" 是吧？」
"Yes, that's the one," replied the man. He then turned towards the kitchen and yelled, 「可不是！」老人說，轉頭面向廚房高聲嚷道：
"Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?" 「Rose！昨天晚上我們吃飯那家餐館叫甚麼名字？」
